1. Information we collect
Juju's Protein Snacks operates this online store on Shopify. We collect only what we need to take your order, deliver a fresh product, and run the business.
Information you give us
- Order details — name, shipping address, billing address, email address and phone number.
- Account details — if you create an account, your login email, order history and any subscription you manage from your account dashboard.
- Contact form — the name, email, phone number, subject and message you submit on our contact page.
- Newsletter — the email address you enter to subscribe.
- Correspondence — anything you send us about an order, a delivery issue or a wholesale enquiry.
Information collected automatically
- Device and browsing data — IP address, browser and operating system, referring site, pages viewed, and the time and length of your visit.
- Cookies and similar technologies — described in our Cookie Policy.
We do not collect health information, and we do not ask for or store your full payment card number.
2. How we use your information
- Process, pack and ship your order, and send order and delivery confirmations.
- Manage recurring subscription deliveries, including skips, flavour swaps and cancellations you make from your account.
- Coordinate cold-chain delivery, including contacting you if a shipment is delayed or a delivery window needs to change.
- Answer questions, handle replacement claims and provide customer support.
- Detect and prevent fraud, chargebacks and abuse of the store.
- Send marketing emails, where you have opted in.
- Understand how the store is used so we can improve it.
- Meet our legal, tax and food-safety record-keeping obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to make automated decisions that produce legal effects for you.
3. Your consent
When you place an order, subscribe to our list or send us a message, you consent to our collecting and using that information for the purposes set out above.
If we need to use your information for a new purpose that is not described here, we will ask for your consent first. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at info@jujusproteinsnacks.com. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer fulfil an order, maintain a subscription or maintain your account.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who need it to run the store, and only for that purpose. These include:
- Shopify — hosts our online store and processes orders.
- Payment processors — process your payment (see section 5).
- Shipping and courier partners, and our distributors — deliver your order, provide tracking and handle food-safety claims.
- Email and marketing platforms — send order notifications and, where you have opted in, newsletters.
- Analytics providers — help us understand how the store is used.
We may also disclose personal information where we are legally required to do so, such as in response to a lawful request from a public authority, or to enforce our Terms & Conditions.
If the business is sold or reorganised, customer information may be transferred as part of that transaction. You will be notified if this materially changes how your information is handled.
5. Payments
Payments are processed by third-party providers, including those shown at checkout such as Shopify Payments, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and Diners Club.
Your card details are transmitted directly to the payment provider, encrypted under the PCI-DSS standard. We do not receive or store your full card number. We receive only confirmation of payment and the last digits of the card for reconciliation. Where you have a subscription, your payment method is stored by the payment provider, not by us, so that recurring orders can be charged.
6. Marketing emails
We send marketing emails only to people who have asked to receive them, in line with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation. Every marketing email contains an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe by emailing info@jujusproteinsnacks.com.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop transactional messages such as order confirmations, subscription notices and shipping updates, which we need to send to complete your purchase.
7. Cookies and tracking
We use cookies to keep your cart working, to remember your preferences and, where you allow it, to measure traffic and marketing performance. Full detail, including how to refuse or delete cookies, is in our Cookie Policy.
8. How long we keep it
- Order records — retained for the period required by Canadian tax and commercial law, currently seven years from the end of the tax year in which the order was placed.
- Account and subscription information — retained while your account or subscription is active, and deleted on request.
- Newsletter subscriptions — retained until you unsubscribe.
- Contact form messages — retained up to 24 months.
- Analytics data — retained in aggregate or de-identified form.
When information is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected for, we destroy it or anonymise it.
9. How we protect it
We use reasonable physical, organisational and technical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including encrypted connections across the store and checkout, access controls limiting staff access to what their role requires, and vetted service providers bound by confidentiality obligations.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your rights
Under Canadian federal privacy law and Quebec's private-sector privacy legislation, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous.
- Withdraw consent to our use of your information.
- Request deletion of information we no longer need.
- Request portability — receive your computerised personal information in a structured, commonly used technological format.
- Complain to us, and escalate to the applicable privacy regulator if you are not satisfied.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@jujusproteinsnacks.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to verify your identity before we act on a request.
11. Storage outside Quebec
Our store platform, payment processors and email providers may store or process personal information on servers located outside Quebec, including in the United States and elsewhere. When information is held in another jurisdiction, it may be accessible to the courts and law-enforcement authorities of that jurisdiction.
Before entrusting personal information to a provider outside Quebec, we assess whether it will receive adequate protection and put contractual safeguards in place.
12. Children
Our store is intended for customers who are old enough to enter a binding contract. Our products are enjoyed by children, but we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Privacy incidents
If a confidentiality incident occurs and it presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify the affected individuals and the applicable regulator promptly, and we will take reasonable steps to reduce the risk of harm and prevent a recurrence. We maintain a register of confidentiality incidents.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. The revised version takes effect when posted, and the date at the top of this page will change. If the changes are significant, we will make that clear on the store.
